Dizzy delivery

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Your Number One.”

Tracking back using the  BirthdayJams website recommended in the prompt to search historic music chart data, I discovered the UK’s number one was Peter Sarstedt‘s ‘Where Do You Go To My Lovely‘, (lyrics here).

DP asks us to write about how the song relates to our personality – apart from having a wide, eclectic taste in music, I don’t think it does. This tune stands out as having quite an unusual mix of style and composition and quite ‘folky’.

If only this line from the lyrics had been true ‘They say that when you get married It’ll be to a millionaire’…

The US number one from the same time is Tommy Roes ‘Dizzy’. It’s a song I’m much more familiar with  and has had more lasting popular appeal than the Peter Sarstedt number.

‘Dizzy, my head is spinning, like a whirlpool it never ends..’ seems far more in tune with my personality!
